From Frustration to Mastery: A Young Cuber’s Journey

Once upon a time, a young boy received a gift that would challenge and inspire him: a Rubik’s Cube. Intrigued by its colorful sides and mechanical twists, he eagerly scrambled it, only to find himself unable to restore it to its original state. Despite his initial enthusiasm, the complexity of the puzzle led to frustration and so he temporarily abandoned it.

Days turned into weeks, and the cube lay forgotten in his toy box. However, out of curiosity or boredness, his interest turned back to the cube. Now a bit older and allowed to use YouTube for research, he turned to YouTube tutorials, immersing himself in the world of cube solving. He learned about the CFOP method, a popular solving technique comprising Cross, F2L (First Two Layers), OLL (Orientation of the Last Layer), and PLL (Permutation of the Last Layer), of course starting with; The Daisy.
Despite numerous attempts and countless algorithm practices, success remained unobtainable. Yet, his determination to solve it was admirable. Not really understanding that mastering the cube required patience(opens up space to amplify your perspective), positive attitude, and perseverance, the same characteristics he was implementing in this process. Gradually, the patterns began to make sense. He formed the Daisy, progressed to the white cross, completed the first layer, and continued step by step until, finally, he solved the entire cube.
What an amazing accomplishment that was, not only making his whole family proud, but most importantly, proud of himself for accomplishing something so difficult and at such a short age. This was a testimony to his own perseverance. He overcame a huge obstacle and destroyed it to crumbles.
Now confident about his accomplishment, he delved deeper into the speedcubing community. He began timing his solves, striving to beat his personal records, and beating his own records over and over again. He explored different cube brands, comparing the performance of models like the GAN 356 and MoYu RS3M. His passion evolved into a desire to teach others, sharing his knowledge and encouraging his family and friends to also solve the cube, even mentioning at times how easy it was :).
Through this journey, he discovered a valuable life lesson: everyone has unique strengths and challenges. Not everyone shared his enthusiasm, or willingness to solve the cube, and that was ok. This realization provided him with empathy and a deeper understanding of individual differences.
The Cube became more than a puzzle; it symbolized the importance of persistence(without action nothing happens), the value of a fresh perspective(you can’t see what you can’t see, you need to modify your perspective), and the importance of a positive attitude (opens your mind to receive new information). Those 3 Foundational Elements plus taking breaks in between tries and surrounding oneself with people that love you unconditionally, are KEY in life, not just in solving a cube.
The 3D Cube Expression is not just a cool room decor, a cool 3d art piece, or cool AR experience, it is a piece reminding you that you always have the key within yourself.
